Following improvements in the law and order situation in Nepal, the Indian Embassy in Kathmandu has released a travel advisory for Indian citizens. The embassy emphasized the need for caution while visiting the Himalayan nation.
In its statement, the Indian Embassy noted, 'The situation in Nepal has significantly improved over the last week. Transportation by road and air services are now functioning normally. However, Indian travelers are advised to remain vigilant and follow any advisories or updates from the Embassy or local authorities in Nepal.'
Recovery Efforts Post-Protests
Recently, Nepal has begun clearing the streets of burnt vehicles and repainting government buildings following last week's violent protests. In Singhadurbar, the administrative center, cranes have been utilized to remove the damaged vehicles, which are temporarily stored on the premises of the federal parliament.
Authorities are marking these vehicles with their registration numbers to facilitate insurance claims and assess the extent of the damage caused during the unrest on September 9.
A preliminary survey indicated that approximately 700 vehicles were set ablaze and rendered unusable. According to a report from a government staff organization, over 250 cars and more than 450 motorcycles were destroyed in the fires.
Notably, at least 47 cars and 74 motorcycles were burned within the grounds of the Prime Minister's Office. The Prime Minister's Office, the Home Ministry, and the Federal Parliament Secretariat were among the ministries that suffered the most vehicular damage during the protests.
